Pregnancy Timeline – Week 7
You are up to week 7 already! Your pregnancy timeline has started to fly. Your body is getting used to the fact that you are pregnant, and hopefully, things are starting to settle down. You might still have some morning sickness for a few weeks, but you will now be developing that special glow that pregnant women have.
It is a good idea to make an appointment with your dentist before your pregnancy develops much further. Your baby will be taking a lot of nutrients from you over the next 7 months, so making sure your teeth are in good condition is an excellent idea. Teeth and hair seem to suffer when we are pregnant.
Enough rest
You should have settled into a routine of making sure you have enough rest each day and night. You will still be tired a lot of the time, so having short rests will be of huge benefit to you both. Make sure you are eating and exercising properly and getting enough minerals and vitamins. Talk to your doctor or healthcare professional about what you should and should not be eating. Coffee, tea, and salt will interfere with your body’s ability to absorb calcium needed for your baby’s growth. Perhaps now would be a good time to start cutting back on those things with a view to eliminating them by week 9. Good nutrition and exercise now are extremely important.
If you find you are having indigestion during this time, make sure you are eating small meals often during the day. Sometimes you will have back pain at this time. The hormones in your body make your ligaments looser, so aim to keep your spine straight when walking and sitting as much as possible throughout your pregnancy to reduce back pain. Avoid lifting anything heavy throughout your pregnancy if at all possible, and wear flat-heeled shoes.
Embryo at week 7
Pregnancy Timeline – embryo at 7 weeks. Your baby has more than doubled in size during the week and should now measure around half an inch or approximately 12 mm. The arm and leg buds are starting to show, and the heart has divided into the two chambers (left and right). The lungs are developing, as are the cerebral hemispheres of the brain. The eyes are continuing to develop, as are the nostrils. The heartbeat would be visible on an ultrasound if you were to have one now. Internal organs are also starting to develop, and the tailbone is slowly disappearing. Keep your pregnancy timeline journal up to date so you have a wonderful record.
